Here we go again
This endless medical routine
I bike to the clinic three times a week
To have my temperature taken
Then my blood pressure after I lie down
To have two pricks (the second one tends to make me wince)
Then have two needles with tubes protruding from my left arm Continue reading Dialysis Blues
Summers here are stifling
But this year it feels even more so
The first August in this house with no A/C
Small bodies beside me writhing
My pillow drenched in perspiration
A roach crawls over my arm Continue reading Summer 2015
In 1938, my mother’s youngest brother at the time, Tsumoru (three years old), contracted meningitis. At the time my grandfather Misao Hiraga was a Singer sewing machine salesman and an elected official of the local village assembly. The youngest child of two of his peers also had contracted the disease. However, in the case of Tsumoru, the doctor expressed his deep regret and said the boy’s life could not be saved.

I happened to find a hard copy of the final project for an Anthropology 152 class from 12 years ago (July 2003). Although there are some areas that should be rewritten, I nevertheless decided to type it out and post it here on Tenrikyology.com with only a few cosmetic changes. April 18 is Oyasama‘s birthday, or what I like to call Oyasamas.
If there is anyone out there wondering how to celebrate, one way you could do so is to wear red on April 18. Another way is to read The Life of Oyasama!
In any case, have a Happy Oyasamas!
Just wishing a Happy Christmas/Newtonmas/Hanukkah/Winter Solstice and New Year’s 2013 to everyone out there!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!! Thank you for visiting the site!
It’s been quite a long time since I’ve posted anything on Tenrikyology.com. Thank you all for your continued patience. Hopefully, I’ll be back to posting regularly sooner if not later.
As of now, I plan to spend an American-style Thanksgiving in the first time in who knows when. It will be the first time my wife and children will be experiencing a Thanksgiving. For this, I am immensely thankful.
Other things I have been greatly grateful for recently:
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
I’ve decided to upload the English version of the “sermon” I gave almost two years ago at New York Center. It has some personal and other information that hopefully some of you out there might find interesting.

(This is my manuscript from my presentation at Tenri Forum 2006 at the Section Meeting Tenrikyo and Its Approach to the Environment)
Hello everyone. Although I fear that I am by no means an expert and lack a background in environmental activism which our two previous presenters—Mr. Cedric Noto and Ms. Amira Dali—have, I hope to use the best of my limited background in what I call “Tenrikyology,” or Tenrikyo studies, to approach the subject of this section meeting.
